“On The Prom” is a symposium devised to show and discuss site/place specific live art, and is based on the promenade between Penzance and Newlyn, in Cornwall. “On the prom” aims to create an opportunity for artists and curators to produce, view and discuss site specific live art and to address being. We hope “On The Prom” will address the promenade as an interesting site and that artists will engage with really being there in a place and a time. This requests artists move beyond established tactics or methods they may have developed for working in site-specific contexts, or engaging an audience. “On The Prom” is a collaboration between Art dept and Art Surgery, and is based upon research into the role of the curator and concerns of space time and being, I have looked at whilst studying on the Arts Management M.A at Dartington college of arts. To submit a proposal for a piece of work which addresses ‘being
on the prom’ email me at by 1st August 2005 with your planned
work. A visit would be beneficial whilst putting a proposal together,
I’m happy to meet with people who wish to visit. |
